The short version: this is a reference site you simply read. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no forms, we set no cookies of our own, and we collect no personal data about you. The detail is below, in plain English.

What we collect

Directly, nothing. We don’t ask for your name or email, we have no login, no comments, and no newsletter, so there is no personal information for us to hold.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Analytics

To understand roughly how many people read which pages, we use — or may use — privacy-first, cookieless analytics (Plausible). It records aggregate figures like page views and referring sites; it does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not collect or store personal data. Nothing is sold or shared.

Hosting

The site is served as static files by our host (Netlify). Like any web host, it processes standard technical request data — such as your IP address and browser type — in its server logs, for security and to deliver the pages. That processing is governed by the host’s own privacy policy.

Links to other sites

We link out to sources, archives and — on our DNA-test comparison — to testing companies. Some of those are affiliate links. When you click an outbound link, the site you land on may set its own cookies to attribute the referral or for its own purposes. That happens on their side, under their privacy policy, not ours; we receive only aggregate commission data and never learn who you are. We aren’t responsible for the content or privacy practices of sites we link to.

Children

This is a general-audience reference site and is not directed at children, and — since we collect no personal data — we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone.
